Your first step to, how to be less shy, starts with people that you will never see again. You could start at the
Mall. I know it sounds silly but it works. Guys, you go to the sports store and girls you go to your favorite
clothes store.

Here we go. Dress nice and get to the Mall or anywhere social. Look for opportunities to help people. Open doors
for the elderly, help someone carry a package or pick up an item that was dropped. By doing this you are in a
controllable and power position. People will smile and thank you for helping them.
Take this opportunity to talk with these people for they will judge you positively. (A charity or soup kitchen
is also a great venue practice this concept and tackle your shyness.) This pools confidence inside you and
allows you to move to the next step. You will no longer be petrified talking to a stranger.
Self Confidence Exercises, Step 2
Next Step. Approach someone your age and of the opposite sex at your favorite store. Ask them if this shoe or
item comes in your size. You will be nervous at first. But there is nothing to worry about. This guy or girl will
help you. They don't care about your over-shyness.
Do this over and over and your nerves will finally melt away. Increase your conversations making them longer and
longer. You will realize that approaching your age, and opposite sex isn't so bad. You see these are controlled
environments where you don't have to worried about being laughed at or accepted.
Self Confidence Exercises, Final Step
Now, when you are ready, approach a stranger, your age, opposite sex and ask them where the closest ice cream
place is (knowing that there is an ice cream store at the mall) Remember this is just about making a small
conversation with someone and a little bit of eye contact. These people are not space aliens. They will be
friendly. Wow you just approached, on your own, a total stranger, your age and opposite sex.
